2009 Toyota Highlander

Engines and Powertrain
The 2009 Toyota Highlander offered two main gasoline engines. The first was a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing around 187 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 186 pound-feet of torque at 4100 rpm. It came with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
The second was a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing about 270 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 248 pound-feet of torque at 4700 rpm. It was paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Fuel economy for the four-cylinder averaged about 20 miles per gallon city and 27 highway. The V6 averaged about 18 city and 24 highway for front-wheel drive models, or 17 and 23 for all-wheel drive.
Towing capacity was about 3500 pounds for the four-cylinder and up to 5000 pounds for the V6.
A hybrid version combined a 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine with electric motors for a total system output of about 270 horsepower.
